At a time when every waking morning brings a new layer of fear, sadness and outrage, I can find the peace I need to get out of bed and face these horrifying headlines within the realization that we will not be quiet through this. We will hold those doing harm accountable, and we will beg to be heard, and we will demand better from the leaders of our country. We will question everything, and we will be watching everything. We are living in a time where humans are so deeply connected on a global scale, and when we are fearful of the changing tides in our government, we will gather. We will find each other, we will make signs that represent those fears, and we will unite. We will gather our children, families and friends, and we will take to the streets.
The only source of relief recently has been tuning into Bernie Sanders and listening to him lead us from the sidelines as Senator, but since attending my first protest at Metro Detroit Airport, I have found relief within the people all over the world that I know will never stop fighting. From the complete stranger that grabbed my hand at the protest, to the ACLU (click here to donate to these freedom fighters!) we are going to be okay because we have each other. We will walk through this fire together, and the good will rise.
…because you know, LOVE TRUMPS HATE.

I would also quickly like to thank the police officers who allowed us a safe +reasonable amount of space to be heard. It was easy to sense the urgency among them to keep this protest from getting out of hand in any way, and I appreciated their presence. I also appreciated the people who came to the airport to pick up loved ones, or just to drive by us with signs hanging out of their windows. That was uplifting in so many ways!
