“One of the most beautiful qualities of true friendship is to understand and to be understood.”
time spent with matt + deidra makes this one of the greatest truths of my life. and not just them, they are just stealing the spotlight from the others because i happen to have some really fun photos from our last visit together that i need to put into the universe. as of late, i feel like marty + i have really found ourselves surrounded by the greatest people on earth. the people we are spending time with make me want to find a mountain and scream from the top of it. some old friends, some new ones. it’s the most perfect collection of human beings, even though that sounds a tad bit creepy.
we’re inspired. and we feel so loved. there’s no pretending or wishy washy poppycock. it is what it is, we are who we are, and we’re all weird and we all love each other anyway. it’s what i’ve always wanted in friendships, and to have it now makes me feel more connected than i ever have been. i feel immeasurably connected to marty, connected to my friends, connected to my entire family which we all know is kind of unbelievable, connected to my work, connected to my art.
grateful, so so so grateful for what i have. grateful to the people who let me and us be what we are. grateful to have people in our lives who are smart and creative and wonderful parents and have beautiful relationships of their own. and grateful to be surrounded by likeminded weirdness. the only thing i can’t believe, is that we hang around a family who has a minivan with those family stickers on the back window…
yikes.
