i couldn’t think of a better way to begin a brand new blog,
than to start with the birth of my nephew, oh my goddddd.

marty + i are supposed to be coming to chicago in two
weeks, and with everything going on and being in michigan,
we decided that we’d wait to meet connor until we came two weeks
after his arrival. it’s not like he won’t still be a newborn by then, right?
right.
wellllllll, that was the mindset i’ve had for the last two weeks,
but come halloween night when marty got home from work at 3am,
i packed a simple bag and jetted out the door.
this probably wasn’t the wisest decision i ever made, but
i was there for it all. i got there just as the sky was changing
from black to a dark blue.
cammi was awake and ready to meet her baby brother,
mom + dad were at the hospital…
i could not possibly miss cam meeting her new brother,
and that moment was everything to everyone
who was in the room as it happened. she was delighted.
and she was nurturing, and she was so gentle.
when connor would make a noise, she would “shhhh, shhhh baby”
it was magical. but what isn’t when you’re experiencing it
with a child? for not nearly long enough, people are fascinated
and mesmerized by everything… and eventually, that gets lost
in the shuffle of the everyday, so
children become our connection to that feeling.
santa becomes exciting again,
bubbles are the best thing ever,
and a scraped knee is the worst pain we know.
my brother + sister in law have given me [and our
entirely family] the gift of these two beautiful little souls.
i don’t think i could ever properly articulate how grateful
i am to them for cam + connor, and to be their aunt as best
as i know how.
what i love in these photos is that it’s all there,
who each of them are,
…my brother is the serious engineer who spends his days
solving problems, yet cammi comes into the room and
he instantly shifts into daddy mode + flashes her his
very nick side smile. cee is the adorning mom, who just
gave birth not even an hour ago but doesn’t mind her
very excited three year old climbing all over her to get
any glimpse she possibly can of her baby brother.
and cammi is this quirky little girl who is unbelievably
smart, with confidence + sass for days. she also
has the cutest little tush in the world! oh,
and she has also just become a fan of baby dolls, so
she thinks connor is “her baby,” which cracks me up!
in her mind, she just hit the jack pot of dolls!
can you blame her?
it’s just so cool to see all of this reflected in the photos, …to be
able to give pause to who people are. THAT’S the magic
of photography.
…and that’s another thought, for another blog.
without further adieu,

sweet baby connor, it took a matter of seconds
for me to fall in love with you, and i promise to be
the best aunt in the world to you, always.
love,
aunt bee
Beautiful story!
